Arthroscopic surgery is a less invasive procedure and the recovery period is shorter.
With arthroscopy, a camera about the size of a pencil is inserted into the knee. By “seeing” the inside of the knee through an image on the video monitor, the surgeon inserts tiny instruments to repair or remove any damaged tissue.
Some 4 million patients undergo arthroscopic knee surgery each year, and the vast majority say the surgery resolves their pain.
There is another type of treatment for damaged knees, called ligament reconstruction.
Ligaments are like rubber bands that surround the knee and give us flexibility while limiting dangerous movements. If the ligaments are torn (which happens in sports), there will be pain when the patient tries to turn, twist, or twist their leg.
This is surgery in which a small camera is used to look inside the knee. Small cuts are made to insert the camera and tiny surgical instruments into the knee to perform the procedure.
DescriptionThree different types of pain relief (anesthesia) may be used for arthroscopic knee surgery:
A cuff-like device may be placed around the thigh to help control bleeding during the procedure.
Our specialist will make 2 or 3 small incisions around the knee. Salt water (saline solution) will be pumped into it to inflate it.
A narrow tube with a small camera on the end will be inserted through one of the incisions. The camera is attached to a video monitor that allows the surgeon to see inside the knee.
Our specialist may place other small surgical instruments into the knee through the other incisions. He or she will then repair or remove the problem in your knee.
At the end of the surgery, the saline solution will be drained from the knee. Our specialist surgeon will close the incisions with sutures (stitches) and cover them with a dressing.
One of the most common surgeries to treat arthritis, a disease caused by bone wear.
Simple procedure where the inside of the knee is observed to diagnose problems and solve them.
Surgery involves making cuts in a bone
This surgery consists of uniting a fractured bone with various materials such as plates.
